About

Scotland Re:Design (SRD) has pivoted during lockdown, in response to Covid-19 effects and changing industry. SRD will focus on Sales & Showcasing through our Runway Shows, Pop-Ups, Events, Exhibitions and Festivals, Fundraising and e-Commerce.

The Business to Business, Trade and Advocacy activity and projects for Scottish Fashion will split off and form a new digital hub called Fashion.scot, for now being hosted by SRD donations until the volunteers who have been working together tirelessly to pivot, survive and support each other complete the Testing, Launch & Follow-Up phases.

Epic thanks to everyone involved. Our new Steering Group and Event plans will also be announced soon.

SRD is not a funded organisation. Though we have received support and commissions in the past due to all events being cancelled for lockdown, we are currently reliant on donations to our GoFundMe campaign. Please donate if you can.

If you would be able to discuss support or projects, please contact info@redesign.scot

Background:

Originally founded as the Glasgow Design Collective project in 2005, it was produced in association with The Herald, SWG3 and Glasgow School of Art to support an annual cohort of creative individuals to attend trade shows like London Fashion Week including Deryck Walker, Niki Taylor, GazMac, Jim Lambie, Timorous Beasties, Ana Cruzalegui, Jamie Tetsill and Christopher Kane. GDC raised sponsorship via a creative entrepreneurial approach from brands & organisations including Whyte & MacKay and Glasgow City Council by delivering art shows, shops, events and runways, new product collaborations, PR and knowledge transfer.

Having first attracted attention from other cities and the Scottish Government in 2006, by 2012 SRD as it’s now know was established, as a national social enterprise project for Fashion, Accessories and Interiors, working to secure investment into the sector, to create events, projects and learning opportunities, delivering Pop-Ups, SuperStores, Festivals, Exhibitions, Annual Awards and Runway Show Calendar plus Business Support Opportunities, Showrooms and Showcases around the world. Outings in NYC, Scotland, Chicago, Hong Kong, Paris and London have each often hosted 100’s of designers and brands, and provided work and showcasing for 100’s of Scottish creative suppliers, working with Gary Lees, Jennifer Kent, Alice Dansey-Wright, Chloe Patience, Totty Rocks, Isolated Heroes, Elizabeth Martin, MYB Lace, Scottish Leather Group, Ruth Leiser, Olive Pearson, Laura Spring, Mariam Syed, Modest Luul, Kestin Hare, Holly Fulton, Pam Hogg, Hawick Knitwear, Paisley Museums, Hayley Scanlan, Judy Clark, La Fetiche, Teatum Jones and Karen Mabon among so many others, debuting Photographers like Dom Martin and Stew Bryden, Music, Artists, Models and Hair and Make-Up Artists with partners including Sharon Stephen, Sara Hill and Model Team.

We are working to recover our former directory.

When developed into Scotland Re:Designed (now Scotland Re:Design), the core of the GDC ethos to aid an annual Cohort was maintained via the launch of the SRD Awards.

SRD is focussed on supporting the development of a successful fashion, textiles and interiors communities in Scotland through connecting with audiences.

SRD works to protect the rapidly growing fashion & interior market within the creative industries sector, addressing gaps & researching opportunities. Our textiles industry alone exports to over 150 countries and is the creative industries’ fastest growing sector.

Companies and exhibitors involved showcase their business to our audience, ranging from fashion and textile designers, interiors and accessories to beauty, models, production, venues, food, drink and the hotel sector.

Just prior to Covid-19 Events included major Fashion launches for brands & shops like MaxMara and Jane Davidson, and exhibitions in Edinburgh. All our events including the Royal Highland Show Textiles Runway & Festival were cancelled due to Covid-19.

SRD is a registered not-for-profit, currently constituted as a Community Interest Company (CIC) SC609172. Please contact info@redesign.scot with any queries.
