A Night at the Trades House

An Upcycling Fashion Challenge Presented in collaboration with Shelter Scotland

Designers, makers, and sustainability champions - this is your moment.

We invite emerging and established creatives to take part in a unique fashion challenge celebrating the beauty of craft, sustainability, and Scottish heritage. Using donated rags and textiles sourced from Shelter Scotland, participants will reimagine discarded materials into evening wear worthy of the Trades House - one of Glasgow’s most iconic symbols of craftsmanship and civic pride.

Theme: “A Night at the Trades House”

DYE : WEAVE : PLEAT brings together Scotland’s rich textile heritage in a bold new collaboration. Showcasing natural dyeing, hand weaving, and bespoke kiltmaking, this project reimagines traditional craftsmanship for contemporary design. Selected for Maison d’Exceptions at Première Vision Paris, it highlights the innovation and artistry of Scotland’s makers.

Brands and designers are encouraged to demonstrate their skills through display and workshops.

Perfect for students, graduates, industry and the entrepreneurial-minded, SR:D features fashion elite, interior design experts, creative start-ups and powerful collaborators, bringing them together with new audiences for creative events and festivals.

Dundee Fashion Festivals: A Celebration of Scottish Creativity

For three incredible years, Scotland Re:Design’s Dundee Fashion Festivals brought together designers, makers, and innovators to showcase the best of Scottish fashion. From runway shows to exhibitions, workshops, and fashion films, these festivals highlighted the talent, sustainability, and creativity at the heart of our industry.

 SR:D has opened the doors to hundreds of designer applications and attracted world renowned buyers, retailers, influencers and media to attend Runway Shows and Events alongside ticketed Audiences, doing frequent collabs with Scottish Musicians, Street Artists, Sculptors and Fine Artists since 2005. This year saw a return to the annual awards, thank you to everyone who sent in nominations.
