SR:D x Fashion Festival 2021

Scotland Re:Design Fashion Festival’s first night at the iconic Scottish home of Design.

We showcased the best of Scottish fashion, the catwalk event was a major fundraiser for the sector and marked a return to the industry’s renowned annual showcase and Runway show which has taken place across Scotland, the UK and internationally since 2005.

An evening of the best of Scottish fashion with music by international touring DJ Dicky Trisco, in a unique night and the first ever Scottish fashion showcase at the V&A Dundee. Hosted and produced by social enterprise Scotland Re:Design (SRD) with Kay McIntyre and McIntyre's Hair Salons, Model Team and supported by EventScotland for their first live event since lockdown, the evening was the opening night for Scotland’s annual Fashion Festival, returning to support Scottish makers, designers, and workers in Fashion. Celebrating Equality, Sustainability & Technology in Fashion.

As part of the SR:D Fashion Festival 2021, a series of short films and live streams were created and published by Scottish Designers, Tech Professionals and Sustainability Champions.

This was an opportunity we were able to provide funding for thanks to Event Scotland, allowing for the creation of these beautiful, inspiring and thought provoking short films.

2020

lockdown

As will have been the same for so many, our entire income of scheduled work and events calendar were completely cancelled, before we had even announced so many of the exciting collaborations set up.  They have been postponed, so hopefully we can announce them again soon. We took this year as a chance to revaluate and imagine what the future should look like, and work towards physical, emotional and economic recovery for lost impacts, us and our suppliers.

The festival and collaboration grew from our involvement in the early dialogues around regeneration strategy with OECD and Renfrewshire Council, via the British Council, and earlier dialogue with Paisley Museum and Scottish Enterprise Textiles Tourism studies. The £42m transformation of the town’s museum is ongoing, and now due to open in 2023.
